Just a few kilometers from the historic charm of Casco Viejo, modern Panama City feels like stepping into an entirely different world. The city bursts with the energy of a bustling international hub—gleaming skyscrapers, upscale shopping centers, and chic restaurants line the streets, creating a striking contrast to the old-world feel nearby.

The Miraflores Locks are a must-see for anybody visiting Panama City. Here, I was fortunate enough to observe some incredible Panama Canal engineering. I stood on the viewing platforms and watched in wonderment as the massive ships passed through the locks to enter either of the two oceans—the Atlantic or Pacific. The scope and accuracy of the operation were amazing, and this historical site stood out as one of the highlights of the trip.
