Machu Pichu, Peru

A Journey to the Lost City of the Incas

Nestled in the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu is a mystical UNESCO World Heritage Site that leaves travelers in awe with its breathtaking views and ancient Incan ruins. This iconic destination is more than just a visit—it’s an unforgettable experience steeped in history and wonder.

Reaching the Peak

The journey to Machu Picchu started with the Poroy Vistadome Train, and honestly, I was glued to the window the entire time. The panoramic glass panels gave way to some of the most stunning landscapes I’d ever seen—rolling green valleys, winding rivers, and towering peaks that seemed to touch the clouds. Every second of that ride felt like a moving postcard.

When we finally reached Aguas Calientes, the little town nestled at the base of the mountains, I could feel the excitement building. This was the doorstep to one of the world’s greatest wonders.

The guided tour through Machu Picchu was nothing short of magical. As we walked those ancient stone paths, our guide painted vivid pictures of the Incan world—their brilliance, their beliefs, and how they built something so extraordinary in such a remote place. And then came the moment I’ll never forget: standing at the top, looking out over the ruins, with clouds gently brushing the mountain peaks and lush green terraces stretching out below me. It felt like I had stepped into another world—one that still whispers its secrets through the mist.

A Taste of Tradition

After the tour, I sat down and treated myself to a glass of Chicha Morada—a traditional Peruvian drink made from purple corn. Its sweet, slightly tangy taste was the perfect refreshment, especially in that crisp mountain air. It wasn’t just a drink; it felt like a gentle nod to the culture that had welcomed me so warmly.

Later, I wandered through the streets of Aguas Calientes. The town had its own kind of magic—colorful, alive, and nestled right in nature’s lap. I found a quiet spot, just to sit and take it all in. The day had been filled with awe and wonder, and now it was time to reflect, to let it sink in.

Machu Picchu isn’t just a place you visit—it’s something you feel. The history, the majesty of the Andes, the stories behind every stone… it all stays with you. Long after the trip is over, something about it lingers, quietly becoming a part of you.
