Prior to entering Milford Sound, I had a serene night at the Lakeview Manapouri Motel—a gem that provides stunning views of Lake Manapouri. Rising to the gentle morning mist floating above the lake, with mountains mirrored in the calm waters, was a treat to the eyes. It was the ideal way to begin a day of discovery.

The journey to Milford Sound itself is simply breathtaking. Cruising through expansive green fields, lined by granite peaks and emerald green forests, felt like stepping into a wildlife documentary. The fresh mountain breeze, the distant sound of birds chirping, and the feeling of sheer freedom made the drive an experience all by itself.

Cruising Through the Fjords with Jucy Cruise

Arriving at Milford Sound, I went on a Jucy Cruise, which brought me right into the heart of the fjords. As the boat moved smoothly through the glassy water, sheer rock walls towered above, and waterfalls like Stirling Falls cascaded spectacularly down from the heights. Seals lounged in the sun on the rocks, and we even spotted a pod of dolphins frolicking in the boat’s wake. The fjords, covered in fog and mystery, felt like a dream come true.
