Monterey
Monterey Seaside Delights and Marine Treasures A Walk Through History Walking along Monterey’s Cannery Row, it’s impossible not to think of John Steinbeck’s vivid descriptions. What was once a bustling sardine canning district now tells its story through charming waterfront shops, cozy restaurants, and local art galleries. The echoes of the past still linger, especially when exploring the adobe buildings at Monterey State Historic Park—quiet reminders of California’s early days that give the whole place a sense of timelessness. Monterey beautifully blends history with coastal charm, and you feel it in every step. Ocean Adventures A visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was nothing short of awe-inspiring—seeing marine life up close through the massive exhibits made me feel like I was part of the ocean itself. It’s one of those places that brings out your inner kid, full of wonder and curiosity. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, we took the 17-Mile Drive. The views of the Pacific were absolutely breathtaking, with dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and iconic spots like the Lone Cypress. We even spotted sea lions lounging on the rocks and otters floating in the kelp beds—it was like a postcard coming to life. Coastal Delights For anyone who loves the outdoors, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is an absolute gem. Hiking the coastal trails there felt like stepping into another world—towering cliffs, turquoise coves, and sea birds swooping overhead. We even caught glimpses of sea otters and seals playing in the waves. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and just take it all in.And after all that exploring, nothing hits the spot quite like a bowl of clam chowder served in warm sourdough. We grabbed ours from a waterfront spot, and between the ocean breeze and the incredible food, it was the perfect Monterey moment.
