Auckland

City of Sails

Auckland, greeted me with its breathtaking waterfront, lively nightlife, and balmy summer wind—a perfect setting for a memorable New Year’s Eve. From comfortable stays to spectacular fireworks, every experience felt like a celebration in this vibrant city.

A Comfortable Stay

Upon arrival in Auckland, I stayed at the Holiday Inn, an ideal location from which to explore the city. With its cozy rooms and convenient location, getting around was effortless. Whether strolling to the waterfront or unwinding after a day of exploration, it truly felt like a home away from home.

New Year’s Eve at Mexican@Jellicoe St

As the sun set on New Year’s Eve, I made my way to Mexican@Jellicoe St, a vibrant restaurant right on the wharf. The bright harbor lights, bustling nightlife, and the aroma of sizzling tacos created the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening. Sipping margaritas and savoring delicious Mexican delicacies while gazing out over the water was the ultimate way to embrace the New Year’s spirit.

Fireworks Above the Space Needle

At the stroke of midnight, the night sky erupted into a brilliant display of fireworks from Sky Tower, often called Auckland’s own “Space Needle.” Standing 328 meters tall, this iconic landmark became the center of attention as bursts of color illuminated the skyline and reflected over the shimmering harbor. Witnessing the city come alive with cheers and celebration was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

From the welcoming Holiday Inn to the festive vibes at Mexican@Jellicoe St and the breathtaking Sky Tower fireworks, every moment felt special.
